Oakhurst has never been defined by square footage alone. Its appeal comes from the combination of historic homes, tree-lined streets, walkability, neighborhood restaurants, parks, community traditions, and its connection to the larger City of Decatur lifestyle.
That sense of place continues to show up in the market. Over the 12 months ending in early September, Oakhurst recorded 38 sales with a median price of approximately $837,500 and a median of just 13 days on market. Sellers received 100% of original asking price at the median during that period.
But those numbers shouldn't be interpreted as a guarantee that every Oakhurst home will move quickly. The neighborhood contains everything from historic cottages and bungalows to substantially renovated and newly built homes, and condition can have a significant impact on value.
For buyers, Oakhurst rewards patience and a willingness to look beyond the obvious. For sellers, it rewards understanding what makes a particular home—and its particular street—special.
