For most of its life, Dunwoody's big mixed-use project near the MARTA station had more cranes than events. This October, its own calendar lists something on The Green on a Monday, a Wednesday, a Friday, a Saturday and a Sunday of the same week. It also has two new places facing the lawn where you can eat before or after.
Those two things are connected. The events showed up once the ground-floor tenants that keep people on The Green arrived. The next question goes to Dunwoody City Council on Oct. 13: whether the block next door should open toward Perimeter Center Parkway.
Two openings, five weeks apart
Varuni Napoli opened in High Street's first phase on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026. Urbanize Atlanta described a space of nearly 3,000 square feet with a patio overlooking The Green. The patio puts a full-service Neapolitan pizza restaurant right at the edge of the lawn where the events take place.
Five weeks later, on Saturday, Sept. 12, Rosetta Bakery opened at 120 High St. The Dunwoody Brookhaven Ledger reported a menu of focaccia, pizza, sandwiches, pastries and coffee. Rough Draft Atlanta's restaurant roundup added Italian breads and baked goods to the list.
As recently as June, Discover Dunwoody still listed both as "coming soon." Between them, the two cover a full day. Rosetta handles coffee and pastry in the morning and a sandwich at lunch. Varuni handles dinner with a view of whatever is happening on the lawn. Cuddlefish, which Rough Draft reported was set to open March 1, 2025, at 290 High St., has been part of the development longer.
October on The Green, by the date
Here are the events on The Green listed on High Street's event calendar for the rest of the month. The calendar also lists restaurant events, including a Temaki Takeover at Cuddlefish on Oct. 12 and Agave Bandido's Senorita Social on Oct. 15.
| Date | Event | Time and details |
|---|---|---|
| Mon., Oct. 12 | Tai Chi on The Green | 5:30–6:30 p.m. |
| Wed., Oct. 14 | Wellness Wednesdays on The Green | 6–7 p.m. |
| Fri., Oct. 16 | Social Fridays | 6–8 p.m. DJ, live set by Jaala, games, mini-pumpkin decorating, food and drinks from High Street restaurants |
| Sat., Oct. 17 | Games on The Green | Listed on the calendar |
| Sun., Oct. 18 | Gatherings market | Noon–3 p.m. Makers + Markets ATL vendors, live music, pretzels, frozen lemonades, fall bouquet bar |
| Sat., Oct. 24 | World of Music | 7–9 p.m., free. James Violin Studio Group and World Music USA |
| Sat., Oct. 31 | Haunting at High Street | 5:30–8:30 p.m. Live music, face painting, roaming entertainment, trick-or-treat scavenger hunt, costume contest |
Some details behind those rows. The Social Fridays page lists food and drinks from the restaurants around The Green, so the new tenants are part of the event itself. The Gatherings market moved to Sunday, Oct. 18, because of expected weather, so an older flyer may show a different date. Haunting at High Street runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Halloween night and is built around a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt and a costume contest.
As of this writing, the calendar stops at Oct. 31. Nothing for November or December is posted yet, so High Street's holiday plans are still unannounced.
The Oct. 24 concert links both ends of town
The free World of Music concert on Oct. 24 is the one date on High Street's calendar that also appears on Create Dunwoody's calendar. Create Dunwoody lists it as a candlelit concert at High Street Green.
The rest of Create Dunwoody's fall calendar takes place in and around Dunwoody Village. Put the two calendars together and Dunwoody's fall becomes a trip back and forth between the two:
- Sat.–Sun., Oct. 17–18: Fall Family Campout at Dunwoody Nature Center. Registration required. Dunwoody Journal's October roundup confirms the 2026 dates. The Nature Center's own listing shows Oct. 17–18 but has a leftover 2025 in its description.
- Thu., Oct. 22: Doorwoody Scavenger Hunt in Greater Dunwoody Village, 6:30–7:45 p.m., run by Create Dunwoody and Active Dunwoody.
- Sat., Oct. 24: World of Music at High Street Green, 7–9 p.m.
- Thu., Oct. 29: Truck or Treat at Brook Run Park, starting at 5 p.m., with food trucks, live entertainment and trick-or-treating.
- Sat., Oct. 31: Haunting at High Street, 5:30–8:30 p.m.
- Sat., Nov. 7: Diwali in Dunwoody at the Nature Center, 5:30–8:30 p.m.
- Sun., Nov. 22: Village Holiday Celebration and Lantern Parade, 3–7 p.m., across the Dunwoody Village area.
That gives families two Halloween events in one week. Truck or Treat at Brook Run comes first on Thursday, and Haunting at High Street follows on Saturday.
A few more openings closer to home
Not every new opening is on High Street. Discover Dunwoody's Sept. 4 roundup lists Beyond Juicery + Eatery at 5482 Chamblee Dunwoody Road as recently opened. It also lists ClubCuts and Daily Pilates Perimeter at 4511 Olde Perimeter Way, in Suites 100 and 400. The same roundup still shows Tenku Sushi, JETSET Pilates and SWEAT440 at The Shops of Dunwoody as coming soon, with no dates.
Walking and biking routes are changing too. The City now lists the Old Spring House Path as recently completed. It fills a gap in the Georgetown area and connects the existing path to Georgetown Square. For Ashford Dunwoody Path Phase 2, which would link the Perimeter Mall path to the cycle track at Meadow Lane Road, the City reported in September 2026 that right-of-way acquisition was 55% complete. No construction completion date has been announced.
What council takes up on Oct. 13
The Green is a gathering spot near Dunwoody MARTA station. Urbanize describes phase one as close to the station. The zoning item now before the city deals with the side of the site that faces away from the station.
Developer GID has asked to change the approved plan for Block 6. The request would replace an approved apartment building with three commercial buildings of up to five stories, with no residences on that block. Appen Media reported in July that the application describes new pedestrian connections through the site. Appen characterized the proposal as a chance to "open up" High Street to Perimeter Center Parkway and the public.
The item, case RZ 26-04, moved slowly at first:
- Aug. 11: The Planning Commission hearing was deferred at the applicant's request so GID could work with city staff on conditions.
- Sept. 8: The Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval with staff conditions. Commissioners asked for more work on a trail-easement condition and on pedestrian and site design, and they strengthened the language on loading and refuse.
- Oct. 13: City Council public hearing, according to the City's zoning decisions page.
As of today, council has not voted. The commission's attention to the trail easement and pedestrian design shows what is being decided. The question is how people on foot will get from the Parkway side to The Green and the restaurants facing it.
Phase two is a separate milestone. As of Urbanize's Aug. 6 report, GID said phase two was "on pace to break ground in the fourth quarter of 2026." The plan is 300 apartments, 40,000 square feet of loft offices and 80,000 square feet of additional retail. No groundbreaking has been reported since, so that timeline is still a forecast. One more neighbor is on the way: Rough Draft reported that Discover Dunwoody has leased office space at High Street and expects to move in by the end of 2026.
Picture an Oct. 24 evening: an early dinner on Varuni Napoli's patio, then a free concert on the lawn at 7. That evening is possible because of two openings this summer. The Block 6 decision affects which routes people will use to get there next year.
If you own near Perimeter Center and want to know how the Block 6 outcome or a phase-two groundbreaking might affect your street, David Pruett tracks these projects and will walk you through what has been approved and what is still pending. Book an appointment.
